Cycle World Superstore has a long power sports history in Toronto Ontario. The building at 4545 Sheppard Avenue East, Toronto, Ontario, Canada was constructed in 1972 and the first tenants were Nelson Honda and the Royal Bank of Canada. Several years later, Nelson Honda was bought out by the owner of the building and he expanded the business into a multi-line OEM dealership that included Harley Davidson and renamed the dealership Cycle World. Cycle World quickly became a landmark location for many power sports enthusiasts.

Meanwhile in 1992, John Pugh, who had previously owned and operated three of Ontario’s largest Kawasaki dealerships, had opened an independent dealership location in downtown Toronto called, The Motorcycle Superstore. The Motorcycle Superstore wasn’t a glitz and glamour motorcycle shop but loads of people knew if you wanted good deals on used bikes and new parts and accessories, it was the place to go and the 5500sqft store quickly became packed to the rafters and very tight on space.

In June 2007 and now 54 years old, John Pugh had decided to leave the power sports business behind him. He had been in it since he was 18 and decided to sell The Motorcycle Superstore property and liquidate his stock. Oddly enough and sadly, in August 2007 and after 30 years of serving the power sports community, Cycle World closed it’s doors and the building was put up for sale.

Well this immediately changed John’s retirement plans. He realized that with both stores gone that left a large part of the power sports community underserved in Toronto’s east end. After long negotiations he purchased the Cycle World property and renamed the business Cycle World Superstore. In February 2008, the difficult process of relocating started along with the backbreaking remodeling.

The 9500sqft back building was completely gutted to the bare concrete walls and floors. Several coats of new paint and durable epoxy floors transformed the space into a more welcoming environment for customers. On the 4500sqft service side of the rear building, a 100% new service center including 8 service technician bays was constructed. Each bay is now outfitted with a state of the art bike lift, new workbenches and new tool chests for the service techs. The remodeling also included two brand new bathrooms for the service technicians and valued customers and a new service reception area was created. Meanwhile, on the other 4500sqft side of the rear building that was originally the Cycle World parts department and warehouse, a used motorcycle showroom was constructed and our now famous wall of luggage grew to even greater heights and selection.

The move and remodeling all took place during one of Toronto’s worst winters ever with near record breaking snowfalls and with only 45 days to move and remodel the decision was made to open on March 15, 2008. Cycle World Superstore opened to admittedly mixed reviews but, overall and through much of our clutter, the customers poured in and made the 2008 motorcycle season a huge success and for that, we are and will always be very grateful – thank you..

For 2009, we look forward to more remodeling, an improved store layout including a customer lounge and snack bar. More importantly and thanks to the continued support of our customers, we’ve been able to expand our business by introducing countless new lines of products and branching out into off road, dual sport and motocross (MX) accessories.

You can also look forward to expanded store hours and additional well trained and friendly staff. Most of all, you can always count on our store to provide you with one of Ontario’s widest and largest selection of helmets, clothing, footwear, luggage and pre-owned motorcycles at prices to fit everyone’s budget.

As one of Ontario’s largest and oldest power sports locations, we also have access to millions of OEM and aftermarket parts and accessories. Our used bike inventory is constantly changing so, depending on when you visit, you will see motorcycles from Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Harley Davidson, Triumph, Aprilla, Ducati, Moto Guzzi or Victory.

Please come and visit our store. We would be honored to meet you, serve you and have you be part of a power sports tradition that has become Cycle World Superstore.
